Local charity seeks support for upcoming ‘golden ticket’ ball

Local charity VSA are hoping thousands will be raised from annual ball to support people that are cared for through its mental health services in the city.

All monies raised this year will go towards supporting people living with a mental illness on their journey to recovery. Every day VSA meet and support local people whose lives have been thrown into utter disarray through a mental health diagnosis, that is why the support and services VSA provide to people living in Aberdeen is so important.

Mental health can affect anyone and sadly 1 in 4 people in the United Kingdom will experience a mental health problem in the next twelve months. VSA help to give people who need support and care, hope; hope and belief that they can regain or maintain a meaningful life.

The upcoming ball is VSA’s flagship annual fundraiser and has raised in excess of £700K over the past eight years; with all the monies raised helping to enrich the lives of some of the most vulnerable people living in Aberdeen. The ball will take place this year on Saturday, November 4 and the theme this year is ‘Willy Wonka’, a theme which is sure to appeal to the inner child (and chocolate lover) within us all. The evening promises to provide a night filled with fun, laughter and outstanding entertainment; Dougie Vipond from Deacon Blue will once again be hosting the VSA ball, and UK leading party band ‘Madhen’ will be on hand to help guests dance the night away.

Jennifer Mitchell Head of Fundraising said “Our annual ball is attended by up to 350 guests every year, and we rely on the generous support of local businesses to provide items that we can auction or raffle on the night to help us raise vital funds. The night promises to be filled with lots of fun and of course chocolate! It is with thanks to the monies raised that we can continue to provide the best of care so that local people can live the best of lives”

Local businesses John Mutch Building Services LTD, GSR Healthcare, Roemex, General and Technical Flooring and Ardoe House Hotel have all rallied behind the local charity to help make the ball a success by sponsoring the event.
