Former Scottish Conservative treasurer Lord Offord, who defected to Reform UK last month, has formally been unveiled as the party's Scottish leader.

Nigel Farage confirmed the widely expected appointment on Thursday, with Lord Offord stepping down from the Lords and standing for election to Holyrood.

Describing the election as a "two-horse race", Lord Offord of Garvel said Reform would run a "positive" campaign, the BBC reports.

Meanwhile, Farage has said Reform will not reveal any detailed policies until a few weeks before the May election.

During a visit to Scotland, Farage said his party's detailed policies north of the border would be "in good time" but not before March when Reform is holding a Scottish conference.

It comes as the fallout from Robert Jenrick's dramatic sacking from the Tories and defection to Reform continues.

In a blistering attack on his former colleagues in the Conservatives, Jenrick claimed the party "broke Britain", labelling it "rotten", "dishonest" and not "fit for purpose".

Speaking at a press conference at Farage's side, The Telegraph reports, Jenrick criticised Sir Mel Stride, the shadow chancellor, for overseeing an “explosion of the welfare bill” and Dame Priti Patel, the shadow foreign secretary, for enabling “five million migrants" to enter the country.

Jenrick joined Reform UK just hours after being kicked out of the Conservative Party by leader Kemi Badenoch who had been presented with “clear, irrefutable evidence” that he was conspiring to switch allegiances.
