School may be out for summer, however employers are encouraged to prepare for the new academic year by attending two free online events from Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) North East.
The first webinar, Work Placements for School Pupils, will be held in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council on Thursday, August 7. Those who attend will discover how they can offer a young person a work placement as part of their Foundation Apprenticeship qualification.
They’ll hear about the different types of placements that pupils undertake, the commitment required from employers, and the support available via Aberdeenshire Council’s Foundation Apprenticeship team. Further information is available here.
The second webinar, Mock Interviews Made Easy, takes place on Tuesday, August 26. This virtual workshop is suitable for new and experienced mock interviewers.
During the session, team members from DYW North East will talk attendees through the process of supporting mock interviews in schools, including the schedule of planned events, top tips for conducting a mock interview and the benefits of taking part. Details can be accessed here.
Aimee Maitland, Interim Director, DYW North East said: “Planning is well underway with our region’s schools for the academic session 2025/26. Experiences such as work placements and mock interviews are instrumental in preparing our senior pupils for their next steps beyond school. We would urge the business community to come along, find out more and consider getting involved.”
DYW North East connects employers with education to provide young people in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the world of work. Find out more about their work here.
