Tesla boss Elon Musk has become the world's first half trillionaire, with his net worth surpassing $500billion this week.
The BBC reports the milestone was driven by a surge in Tesla's market value, alongside record-breaking revenues from SpaceX's satellite internet venture, Starlink.
The Forbes' billionaires index reported his net worth briefly reached $500.1billion on Wednesday afternoon, before falling slightly to just over $499billion later in the day.
According to analysts, his growing dominance in electric vehicles, private space exploration, and artificial intelligence has fueled investor confidence, pushing up the valuation of his companies'.

The UK's flagship share index, the FTSE 100, was up 102-points at 9,468 shortly after opening this morning.
Brent crude oil futures were up 0.92% at $65.41 a barrel.
