Watson Wood Financial Planning is an award-winning independent financial planning firm based in Westhill, Elgin and Inverness. We provide unbiased, expert advice to private individuals, business owners, families and Trusts. Each of our Planners work with around 50 families to help them achieve their financial and life goals.
Who are your customers?
We work with a variety of clients such as business owners, executives, and high net worth individuals. Our clients are nearing retirement or in retirement and have complex financial planning needs. As we work with a limited number of clients per adviser, this gives us more time to formulate financial strategies for these clients.
What is the biggest challenge and opportunity your organisation is facing right now?
Our biggest challenge is the speed and volume of change to tax and estate rules and legislations at the moment. This, however, is also our biggest opportunity – as more and more people need help with estate planning, particularly with pensions coming into Inheritance Tax calculations from next year.
What is your word of advice for fellow Chamber members?
Take time out to review the direction of the business periodically. We can all be busy with the day-to-day, so it is easy to lose sight of the long-term objectives. Building in time to take stock allows us to fine-tune and improve the business – and pays off further down the line.
What is the best thing about being a Chamber member?
We are looking forward to learning more about other businesses within the Chamber. We firmly believe that it is possible to improve constantly through the sharing of best practice and meeting other members who can help us meet our business goals.
