Meet the exciting people behind our member businesses.

Name: Sandy Flett

Company: GS HYDRO UK

Job Title: Sales and Business Development Manager

When was your business established?

GS HYDRO UK was established in 1974, originally founded in Finland and at the turn of 2017 became part of the Interpump Group. Listed on the Milan stock exchange with over 10,000 employees and covering over 35 geographies, GS Hydro are now one of 115 subsidiaries that have group synergies in fluid transfer solutions servicing hydraulic and high-pressure piping systems. Within the UK, GS Hydro has three strategic locations which as been formed in both organic and growth through acquisition.

Give us the elevator pitch for your business.

Spanning over 50 years, at GS HYDRO, we specialise in providing innovative and sustainable piping solutions that’s transversal across many industries, applications and geographies.

Our advanced ‘non welded’ technology and commitment to pressure system integrity ensure efficient fluid transport for projects in oil and gas, maritime, drilling, M.O.D as well as industries and utilities. From ad hoc pressure system repairs, to full design, implementation and commissioning of new systems. We service our clients with our solution based technology offers full project life cycle support.

Who are your customers?

We partner with various sectors, including construction, energy, and water management, servicing both public and private organizations. From dealing directly with operators / asset owners, through to the engineering bodies that supports them. More locally from our Aberdeen business unit, our weldless flange connection solution, technically, is widely mature within most operators and their assets within the UKCS.

What is the biggest challenge and opportunity your organisation is facing right now?

This time last year, if I was asked, it would have been the impacts of post covid, with a lot of historical clients leaving the industry and reprofiling our client base in a remote/hybrid working setting for client outreach as our offer is solution based as opposed to a commodity. This year however, being a service provider that supports the Oil & Gas sector, we face some of the same challenges as most service providers in this marketplace.

And the biggest opportunity?

For GS Hydro’s piping division, this last year had layers of challenges looking back, however, we had a lot of key fundamentals dialled in and now on track for delivering our best financial year since 2015. I think it’s taking all the lessons learned from this year and how we have delivered and using these metrics as a foundation for growth into 2026 in what could be harder fought market conditions.

What is your word of advice for fellow Chamber members?

Please join the chamber if you haven’t already. And if you’re a current member, I’d urge all to attend as much events and networking sessions as possible. The events are always packed with market intelligence and a diverse group of attendees all with same appetite to collaborate and see each other grow.

What is the best thing about being a Chamber member?

For me, it’s been the support network within the chamber with everyone encouraging conversations, connections and raising businesses profile through their events and marketing.

What has been most valuable to you as members of Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce?

Networking opportunities and resources have been invaluable, enhancing our visibility in the community and fostering meaningful business connections as well gaining incredible market intelligence.

What are you most passionate and proud of when it comes to your business?

I take pride in fostering long-term relationships and delivering on client’s expectations. With our product being solution based and a technical ‘sell’ for example withing piping pressure containment / asset integrity applications. Setting the commercial and time savings aside, it’s the simplicity and ease of installation that sets us apart from other solutions, and always have that sense of lasting achievement when we take away client’s problems and remediate integrity issues.
