Aberdeen Arts Centre has been the home of grassroots arts in Aberdeen for over 60 years. The Arts Centre plays a crucial role in the north east cultural scene through its varied programme of performances, Creative Learning Programme for children and adults, and an Artist Development Programme to support local professional creatives.
Who are your customers?
Over 35 local performing groups call Aberdeen Arts Centre home, as well as countless community organisations, creative students, professional artists, and audience members from across the north east and beyond. We also welcome corporate clients throughout the year to make use of our meetings and conferencing facilities.
What is the biggest challenge and opportunity your organisation is facing right now?
As a small independent charity, it’s critical for us to become sustainable and stable through continued fundraising – allowing us to Save Aberdeen Arts Centre for the benefit of everyone in the north east. By connecting with local businesses and organisations, we can make a positive, creative impact on the community together.
What is your word of advice for fellow Chamber members?
Don’t underestimate the power of the arts. Whatever your profession, getting involved in the arts will allow you to learn valuable transferable skills, gain confidence and make lasting friendships. Whether you feel your job is creative or not, you’ll learn to problem solve and look at things with fresh eyes by participating – and you’ll be brimming with inspiration.
What is the best thing about being a Chamber member?
Being a member allows us to amplify our story and reach larger audiences, connecting us with business leaders that can help us achieve our goal of safeguarding the home of grassroots arts in Aberdeen.
