Give us the elevator pitch for your business.
Team Remiges V are an ocean rowing team made of five regular guys who work in our Oil and Gas Industry in the North Sea. We are taking on The Worlds Toughest Row in December this year rowing from La Gomera in the Canaries across to Nelson’s Harbour in Antigua.
The most important part of doing this is we are raising money in aid of three fantastic charities: - The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, MND Scotland and Mind, Body & Sole. However, as well as raising awareness and funds for these, it’s about leaving a lasting impression or legacy to show everyone in the Northeast and beyond (which is having a hard time now) that with the correct mindset and mental resilience that anyone can achieve anything.
We are five ordinary men looking to achieve an extraordinary feat and we would welcome any company to come onboard and support us in our worthwhile journey.
Who are your customers?
Absolutely everyone. We hope that our journey can reach everyone in the communities of the North-east and beyond. We want to ensure all our supporters and corporate partners feel part of this row and we will be thinking of all of them which each oar stroke we take.
What is the biggest challenge and opportunity your organisation is facing right now?
The biggest challenge facing our team is funding. To undertake a challenge of this magnitude is expensive, whilst also trying to raise funds for our charities at the same time.
However, we have been blown away by people’s generosity, and the companies that have already committed to a corporate package with us. Without them this epic challenge would not be happening.
We only have five packages left for showcasing a supporter’s brand. These packages present a unique opportunity for any business, where they not only get to support our fantastic charities but can have their brand showcased on the boat, giving them high impact visibility, which will be seen by millions during the start, during the race itself and the finish! A great marketing platform for being seen as a supporter of our challenge and team and being part of the unique challenge of the row.
We value the support from the local communities and beyond and want to ensure these supporting corporate sponsors also receive high visibility and exposure
What is your word of advice for fellow Chamber members?
Wellbeing in your teams. Check on your colleagues – ask them how they are feeling. Doesn’t have to be work related. Teams who feel supported will perform better. Having a positive mindset and having the ability to have those open and honest conversations without fear of a backlash will build a strong foundation for long term success for your business.
What is the best thing about being a Chamber member?
Being a Chamber member has been amazing for us as we have connected with so many local businesses and more importantly the people from those businesses, like Lorna Clark from Genny Hire Ltd for example. We have secured corporate sponsorship from one of the Chamber Networking Events too.
We are building strong links within the local and wider business community and our message of working hard and using mental strength / resilience with physical strength resonates with all we have connected with.
We come from a hard-working community of farming, fishing and oil and gas people – the backbone of the country and it’s great to remember and still work together and promote them.
