MISS (Miscarriage Information Support Service) held its Annual General Meeting on October 17, 2019, at the Village Hotel, Kingswells. The AGM reported on a successful year with MISS achieving registered charity status in March 2019, being selected as one of the chosen charities for the Northern Star Business Awards, starting a second monthly support group in Aberdeen, launching a dedicated website and growing the number of followers on social media. Impressively, the charity beat its fundraising target of £4000 by more than a double.
The next 12 months are set to be equally busy as MISS continues to grow and develop. Plans presented to the AGM included continued support locally for women and partners affected by miscarriage, including new targeted support for those trying for a new pregnancy and those expecting a baby following a miscarriage; high-profile quarterly fundraising events; provision of early loss memory boxes to NHS facilities; and much more. Abi Clarke (MISS Founder and Chairperson) said, ‘It is wonderful to see MISS growing and I really appreciate the efforts of our volunteers who are giving up their time to help our charity go from strength to strength.’
