ModuSpec has been awarded a contract to support the intake of an idle drilling barge. The unit has been cold stacked since 2021 and the reactivation process will commence during Q1 2024.

ModuSpec has been chosen by the operator to provide continual assurance during the reactivation project in readiness to recommence operations in Q3 2024 within the Caspian Sea. The team will also witness the recommissioning of key equipment and systems and acceptance onto contract.

Recently ModuSpec has helped several clients to bring idle assets back to life, including with a jack-up in Singapore to work in Mexico and a drillship due to work offshore Ivory Coast.

Mark Watson, Operations Manager for ModuSpec, said: "We have a proven history with reactivating idle rigs whether it be a standard new-build or rig under cold or warm stack maintenance.

"This drilling barge has been cold stacked for over three years and during the course of the next 8 to 10 months, we will provide continual support to the client both from our technical team in the office and surveyors on site.

"We look forward to working with our client in Kazakhstan, a market where we have been very successful."
