Integrity HSE has taken another bold step in its impressive growth journey by adding Shabnum Hanif to its senior leadership team as Director of Clinical Psychology. This was a strategic move that had been planned since the organisation’s inception in March 2023 and fits perfectly with its purpose of making the working world a safer, healthier and more sustainable place for all.
Darrell Lines, Integrity HSE’s Director of Safety and Risk Management, said “Steven (MD) and I were looking for an exceptional medical professional that we could bring onboard to help us address the mental health epidemic. When we met Shabnum, we quickly realised she had a unique clinical pedigree with a combined deep knowledge of the energy industry, the fit was truly compelling”.
Having started with Integrity HSE at the beginning of October, Shabnum has already attracted several clients who are keen to gain to access her skillset. She told us “I have met with a huge number of industry leaders in my first month, each of whom recognises the need to address mental health within their organisation, but they need guidance in order to put that ambition into a meaningful strategy”.
Shabnum’s help begins by aiding organisations to define their vision, and then benchmarking where they currently are before working with the client to map the journey to where they want to go. Once that phase is completed, Shabnum assists in the creation and execution of a company-specific psychosocial risk assessment which critically informs the company decision-makers and helps them determine where to best use their resources.
Steven Harris, Managing Director of Integrity HSE said, “It is a pleasure to bring Shabnum to market, her level of competence is desperately needed. Business owners, managers, HSE and HR professionals are not equipped to competently deal with some of the workforce challenges they now face and there is a legal, moral and commercial imperative for them to consult a subject matter expert”.
Data from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) reveals there were approximately 914,000 reported cases of stress, depression or anxiety that could be directly attributed to work-related factors in the year 2021/22. This resulted in an estimated 17 million lost working days. This accounts for more than 50% of all working days that were lost due to work-related health issues.
