Aberdeen-based exterior cleaning and specialist maintenance company NEREC Ltd has invested in its own tracked access platform as part of ongoing plans to increase capacity and improve responsiveness for clients requiring high-level cleaning and maintenance services.
The investment comes as demand continues to grow for services such as gutter cleaning, roof cleaning, cladding cleaning, high-level maintenance, and specialist access work across commercial, industrial, domestic and public sector sites.
By bringing access equipment in-house, NEREC will have greater control over project scheduling, allowing the business to respond more quickly to client requirements while reducing reliance on third-party hire availability.
Previously, access equipment was often hired as required. Owning a machine allows the company to mobilise faster, without relying on third-party availability, while also helping to keep project costs down for clients by reducing external hire charges.
The newly acquired tracked access platform was selected for its reliability, versatility, and suitability for the diverse environments in which NEREC operates.
Its tracked design allows it to operate on rougher terrain and uneven ground, providing access to areas that can be challenging for traditional wheeled machines. This makes it particularly useful for work around industrial sites, estates, rural properties, construction projects, and difficult-to-access commercial buildings.
NEREC also opted for a petrol-powered machine, which offers quieter operation than many diesel alternatives. This helps reduce disturbance when working in occupied buildings, educational facilities, public environments, and other locations where noise levels are an important consideration.
The investment forms part of NEREC's ongoing commitment to improving service delivery through equipment innovation and operational efficiency.
In addition to supporting its own projects, NEREC can now offer operated access hire services to other businesses and trades. This allows contractors to carry out their own work at height while benefiting from the provision of both the access platform and a trained operator supplied by NEREC.
Ross Skene, Business Development and Marketing Manager at NEREC, said: "As the business continues to grow, we're always looking at ways to improve how we support our clients. This investment gives us greater flexibility, allows us to respond faster, and helps us keep costs competitive.
"It also opens up opportunities to support other contractors who require safe access for work at height. Whether it's cleaning, maintenance, inspections, repairs, or construction-related activities, we can now provide both the machine and a trained operator to help them complete the job safely and efficiently."
The purchase represents another step in NEREC's continued growth and investment strategy, following recent expansion into larger premises, growth in staffing levels, and increasing demand for projects across Scotland and beyond.
