With sweeping views of the Granite City and incredible drone footage, a new video celebrating this year’s Nuart Aberdeen international street art festival has officially launched.

The short film captures the thoughts and feelings of the renowned artists invited to turn once blank walls into stunning art pieces based on the theme of rewilding, with interviews, works in progress and the finished pieces across the city centre.

The video includes Chalk Don’t Chalk, which saw the category A listed Marischal College quadrangle rewilded into a giant chalk mural on the ground, created by hundreds of local school children and members of the public.

Visitors and locals are also interviewed about their favourite artworks, alongside footage of the Stencibility art exhibition, urban art conference and tours which complemented the festival.

The chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, the city centre BID which delivers the festival in partnership with Nuart, Adrian Watson said: “The legacy created from this year’s Nuart Aberdeen is arguably the most compelling yet and the feedback has been fantastic.

“However, the greatest value Nuart Aberdeen offers is its ever-growing legacy, all year round. While guided walking tours of the new and existing murals and artworks continue each weekend, the pieces are there permanently and can be enjoyed time and time again. How lucky we are to have such unique legacy brightening up our buildings and drawing tourists into the city centre as well as being a source of pride for local residents.

“There are now more than 40 signature pieces to be seen in the city centre, attracting thousands of people to Aberdeen, and this beautifully crafted video perfectly captures the true legacy created by Nuart Aberdeen 2023, the hundreds of children at the heart of this year’s production and the beauty of the city itself.”

This year’s locations included Frederick Street car park, the former police station on Queen Street, St Andrews Street, Rose Street, Skene Street and Thistle Lane.
