Cairngorm Bothies, the peaceful eco-friendly retreat located in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, has confirmed its status as a finalist for the Iver Salvesen Award for Combatting Climate Change.

This prestigious accolade is part of the Scottish Land & Estates Helping it Happen Awards 2025, which celebrate the crucial role of land-based businesses in supporting local communities and the rural economy. The nomination recognises the company's significant efforts and leadership in addressing climate change.

The award nomination acknowledges the business's deep dedication to sustainability, a core part of its mission to offer a nature-based experience. The bothies' approach to climate action serves as a positive example for other businesses in the tourism sector, demonstrating how environmental responsibility can be integrated into day-to-day operations. The bothies have implemented a range of initiatives, from their off-grid power systems to their commitment to sourcing local materials and reducing waste.

Dr Gordon Drummond owner of the bothies expressed immense pride in the team for this outstanding achievement and for their continuous work on environmental initiatives. "Being a finalist for such a prestigious award is a testament to the team’s hard work," the representative said.

"We are honoured to be recognised by Scottish Land & Estates for our efforts to combat climate change. We look forward to attending the black-tie awards ceremony and dinner on the evening of Wednesday, October 1, at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh, and celebrating with all the other finalists who are making a positive difference in rural Scotland."
