A team from Northwood, one of Aberdeen’s leading sales and lettings agencies, has raised more than £1,500 at this year’s Kiltwalk in aid of The UK Sepsis Trust, a charity which raises awareness of the life-threatening condition.

The Property Plodders completed the 18-mile walk from Banchory to Aberdeen on Sunday with thousands of other participants, all raising much needed funds for charities of their choice.

Aberdeenshire branch manager Juliet Livingstone said the team of 10 chose to support The UK Sepsis Trust after her uncle died of the serious condition in 2023.

Sepsis occurs when the body responds improperly to an infection with the result that the infection-fighting processes turn on the body, causing the organs to work poorly. It can then progress to septic shock.

Juliet said: “My Uncle John was my dad’s twin. He was a fit and healthy ex-fireman who was a keen hill climber and Munro bagger.

“He quickly became unwell during a weekend away. Unfortunately, by the time he reached hospital sepsis had taken over and he passed away within 12 hours of being there.

“When he died, the nurses gave us a little glass heart, which I had with me on my wedding day last October. I took it with me during the Kiltwalk so that he was present with us - he would have smashed a challenge like this!

“We all love a challenge at Northwood, so an 18-mile walk seemed perfect. We had a great day, though there are some sore feet today!”

The Property Plodders smashed their £1,000 target for The UK Sepsis Trust, which aims to end preventable deaths and improve outcomes for sepsis survivors by raising public awareness and supporting those affected by the devastating condition.
