Norwegian well operators show support for mental health

The organising committee of a recent oil industry forum has donated 100,000 kroner (£8,300) to a charity in Stavanger which helps people with mental health issues get back into work.

Equinor, Lloyd’s Register and Ridge AS were lead partners in the European Well Productivity Forum, which was held in Stavanger last August.

The group chose to donate some of the proceeds of the forum to local charity Fontenehuset Stavanger, a work-oriented clubhouse where members benefit from an environment of support, acceptance and engagement.

The house is run by members and employees who work together as equal colleagues, giving them a meaningful week day and allowing them to become active participants in the society.

The idea for the European Well Productivity Forum came from the North Sea Operators Well Productivity Network, a collaboration of operator representatives established in 2015, specialising in reservoir drilling and completion fluids, formation damage and general well productivity.

The aim of the forum was to discuss and share experiences on a range of technical topics relating to the maximisation of well productivity during the drilling and completion process. The organising committee also wanted to show its support for a local cause and was delighted to be able to contribute some of the proceeds of the forum to Fontenehuset Stavanger.

The next event will take place in September 2020, where the intention will be to directly involve Fontenehuset in the forum exhibition and target some specific projects to be supported. For more information, go to www.ewpf.events
