Entries are now open for a new run and bike duathlon that will challenge north-east runners and cyclists of all abilities.

Waste and recycling specialist, One Stop Waste Solutions, is backing ‘The House of Dun Duathlon’ which takes place on Sunday, September 28th (2025).

Organised by the Montrose Triathlon Club, the inaugural event will see competitors run 5km, cycle 20k, and then run 3km towards the finish line.

The run circles the grounds of House of Dun, near Montrose, with the bike route following the quiet country roads of Angus, while prizes are on offer for first, second and third place.

Designed by William Adam, House of Dun is an early 18th century Georgian mansion. Set amid intricate Victorian gardens, expansive parkland and beautiful woodland, the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) venue offers views of the Montrose Basin and its world-famous nature reserve.

The endurance race is strictly limited to 70 participants with places allocated on a first come, first served basis. Individuals can register via the dedicated website for £35 per person, where more information is available on route maps and the timetable.

Mike Talbot, race director, said: “We are delighted to announce that One Stop Waste Solutions has stepped forward to support the House of Dun Duathlon for 2025. As an event headline sponsor, the company’s generous contribution supports us with our event costs, which in turn enables us to keep entry costs to a minimum.”

Craig Donoghue, managing director at One Stop Waste Solutions, added: “We are honoured to help with sponsorship of the inaugural House of Dun Duathlon. As a member and coach of Montrose Triathlon Club, the opportunity to give something back to such a warm and welcoming club could not be missed.”

The Montrose Triathlon Club was established in 2014 after the first-ever Tri Angus event held in Montrose. The success of this event inspired a group of triathletes to form the club and since then it has grown year after year.

The club is fully affiliated with Triathlon Scotland and has a team of fully qualified coaches who work alongside the leadership to deliver quality training sessions across all three disciplines.
