Petrofac donates £4,000 to Clan Cancer Support

Aberdeen-based employees of Petrofac, a leading international service provider to the oil and gas industry, have chosen to support a local cancer charity with a donation of £4,000.

CLAN Cancer Support (CLAN) provides emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer across the North-east, Orkney and Shetland. It was one of five UK charities voted for by Petrofac’s teams to receive a ‘prize’ donation of £4,000 from the Company’s match giving fund.

The fund was created in 2014 in line with Petrofac’s commitment to match 50p of every pound its employees donate via its Give As You Earn scheme. In addition to the five prize donations, another 26 UK charities received a contribution from the fund, which totalled £26,000 at the end of 2017.

Dave Blackburn, senior vice president, Petrofac Engineering and Production Services West, said: “We’re really proud that in spite of the challenging climate of the past few years, our teams have continued to give generously to good causes through our Give As You Earn scheme. It therefore felt fitting that they chose which charities should benefit from our match funding commitment.

“CLAN is an extremely worthy cause and it’s very encouraging to hear that our donation will make such a difference to those living with cancer and their families, across the North-east.”

Fiona Fernie, head of income generation and business development, CLAN Cancer Support, said: “On behalf of everyone at CLAN Cancer Support, I would like to thank everyone at Petrofac for their ongoing support and for selecting CLAN to receive a donation from its match giving fund.

“Support from individuals and organisations like Petrofac not only helps to ensure that CLAN can be there for people affected by cancer, right in the heart of their own communities, but is also crucial in continuing to raise awareness of the vital support and information services we provide throughout North-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.”
