Police Scotland is preparing for the potential visit of US vice president JD Vance, just days after president Donald Trump attended Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire.
The visit of Donald Trump involved a mammoth policing operation with officers from elsewhere in the UK drafted in to provide support.
And now, a second "significant" operation is in the pipeline with JD Vance expected to visit Ayrshire later this week.
Confirming planning was underway, a Police Scotland spokesperson told the BBC: "Details of any visit would be for the White House to comment on, however it is important that we prepare in advance for what would be a significant policing operation."
Vance and his family were in England last week where they spent time in Kent and in the Cotswolds.
He also went fishing with foreign secretary David Lammy and questioned him about the UK's plans to recognise a Palestinian state.
