The Nestrans Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Kieran Morton as its newest non-councillor board member, following approval from Scottish Ministers. 

Mr Morton joins the board to help guide the delivery of the Regional Transport Strategy with his extensive industry expertise.

With over 20 years’ experience across oil and gas, maritime, transport and infrastructure, Mr Morton currently serves as business development manager at Port of Aberdeen. 

Prior to his current role, Mr Morton held several roles for major international service companies, progressing from engineering to operations management and latterly business development. 

Drawing on an understanding of supply chains at both regional and national level, particularly related to renewable and broader energy transition, Mr Morton will bring valuable expertise which will help position the region is ready to capitalise on growth opportunities. 

With experience of business case development of large-scale projects, Mr Morton has a keen interest in how strategic investment in transport infrastructure can drive economic growth in the North-east. His extensive background is expected to contribute fresh perspectives to Nestrans’ plans for freight, maritime transport, local public transport and strategic road networks.

Mr Morton will attend his first meeting of the board on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

“Kieran has a wealth of commercial expertise along with his own perspectives on transport across the North-east. I think he will be a real asset, especially as we look at how we can support our North-east economy." 

Kieran Morton said: “I am absolutely delighted I have been afforded the opportunity to join the Nestrans board. As the regional transport partnership, Nestrans play an important and exciting role in the regions transport strategy, and I am excited to aid where possible. 

“I have particular interest in how the region can support the excellent Energy Transition opportunities here in the North-east, deliver meaningful impacts for local public transport users and help the region with transport aspects of the industrial strategies to aid local businesses.”
