Powering offshore oil and gas with marine renewables

The University of Aberdeen is set to host a one day event, Powering Offshore Oil and Gas with Marine Renewables on September 18, 2019. The conference will bridge the gap between renewable energy and the oil and gas industry.

Speakers from both industries will be exploring how marine renewable energy sources such as wave power and floating wind turbines can power oil and gas activities including decommissioning and other offshore business. They will include representatives of companies involved in wave power, floating offshore in turbines and oil and gas companies interested in renewable energy.

Speaker line-up includes:

Oil and gas decommissioning and power needs - Susi Wiseman, Oil and Gas Technology Centre

Late life and decommissioning - Sam Long – Aker Solutions

Wave power and offshore oil and gas - Paul Watson, Ocean Power Technologies

Niche power opportunities for offshore oil and gas - Per Resen Steenstrup, Resen Waves

New sources of power for offshore oil and gas - Professor Alex Kemp, University of Aberdeen

How to integrate renewable energy with oil and gas - Fraser Pritchard, Columbus Energy Partners

Keith Anderson, Wood plc

Floating wind turbines - Bjørn Johansen, Equinor

Panel discussion – Maggie McGinlay, Opportunity North East; Professor Peter Strachan, RGU; Professor Alex Kemp, University of Aberdeen; and Dr David Toke, University of Aberdeen
