Press and Journal publisher DC Thomson has seen its profits jump, its latest accounts have revealed.

The firm, which also owns the Evening Express and Original 106, bounced back from a £161.5m pre-tax loss in the 2023 financial year due to struggling investments.

In the financial year up to the end of March 2024, total revenues were £153.9million, down from £161.4million in 2023.

But its pre-tax profits increased to £93.8million, after a recovery in unrealised investment values.

The Press and Journal reports DC Thomson chairman Christopher Thomson said: “Guided by an exceptional leadership team and our community-driven strategy, we are steadfast in our purpose: to champion, entertain and bring together our communities.

“This is truly one of the most exciting periods in our history as we continue to navigate our journey to long-term sustainable growth.”
