Leading North-east law firm Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace LLP (Raeburns) has strengthened its commitment to developing local legal talent with the recruitment of four new trainee solicitors.

Mark Pirie, Matt Fraser, Niamh Angus-Hankin and Scott Robb have now begun their traineeships with the firm. Over the next 24 months, Mark and Niamh will rotate through multiple departments to gain broad legal experience, while Matt and Scott will focus on the Corporate and Private Client teams respectively.

Mark Pirie is originally from Lithuania and a former pupil of Banff Academy, Mark studied his LLB (Hons) and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice (DPLP) at Robert Gordon University. He starts his career with Raeburns in our Union Street property shop, supporting the busy residential property team.

Matt Fraser, a former pupil of Aberdeen Grammar School, Matt graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a First Class LLB (Hons) degree before completing his DPLP at the University of Edinburgh. He will focus his traineeship on corporate and commercial transactions. Outside of work, Matt is a keen golfer (handicap 1) and a talented musician.

From Lumphanan, Niamh Anglus-Hankin has previously worked with Raeburns as an administrative assistant. She now returns as a trainee in the firm’s Commercial Property Department. Niamh completed her LLB with English Law (Hons) and her DPLP at the University of Aberdeen.

Scott Robb, from Aberdeen, has already been part of Raeburns as an Executry Paralegal. After nine years in Occupational Health, he retrained in law, studying for his LLB at the University of Aberdeen and his DPLP at Robert Gordon University while working with Raeburns. Scott will remain with the Private Client Department for his full traineeship, building on his experience in wills, trusts, executries and asset protection.

Douglas Crombie, Head of Private Client, said: “Scott has already shown great commitment to Private Client law and we are delighted he has chosen to continue his career with our team.”

By welcoming new trainees each year, Raeburns continues to invest in the next generation of legal professionals. The firm’s structured traineeship programme gives graduates the chance to gain hands-on experience, learn from senior colleagues, and build long-term careers within the business.

Managing Partner Heather Stephen added: “We are committed to investing in the development of trainees and we are proud to continue that investment with local talent who bring impressive academic backgrounds and fresh perspectives to our teams. As valued members of our firm, we aim to build on that strong foundation by providing the support, guidance and opportunities that they need to grow and thrive in their professional journey.  We wish them every success and look forward to seeing the contributions they’ll bring to the firm over the coming years.”
