Scotland’s HR, training and recruitment conference cHeRries returns for 2022 as an in-person event after launching virtually last year.
The first ever live cHeRries conference, in association with Mattioli Woods, will be held next month at P&J Live in Aberdeen on March 24. A packed schedule of seminars and discussions are planned with the themes of relations, retention and resilience being explored throughout the day.
Cara Munro, organiser of cHeRries said: “Like most industries, we have weathered the storm that was 2021 – and we have survived. Now it is time to recover.
“The cHeRries conference is a chance for HR professionals to come together in what was one of the most challenging years yet.
“The sessions are designed to inspire people and celebrate what we have achieved as we take back control of our working lives in 2022.”
On the theme of ‘relations’, participants will hear from Andrew Knight, senior solicitor in Burness Paull’s employment team. He will be discussing diversity and inclusion in the workplace and how essential it is, as well as providing valuable insight into the legal framework underpinning these aspects of recruitment.
A panel of speakers including Emma Smith (Burness Paull’s inclusion and wellbeing manager) will talk on the subject of ‘retention’ and how the workplace can be supported to appreciate and value diverse aspects of the workforce. Other speakers for this session will be announced in coming weeks.
Louise Lang, director and co-founder of Lindsay & Lang and guest speakers will share their knowledge about trending themes and real-life challenges facing businesses today, as they work towards a more resilient and sustainable future.
Staying on the theme of resilience, attendees will also hear from Paralympian Samantha Kinghorn who, at the age of 14 suffered a horror accident on her family’s farm in the Scottish Borders, leaving her with a serious spinal injury and unable to walk.
Confined to a wheelchair, the teenager never let her disability get in her way and has achieved many accolades including making her Paralympic debut for Team GB in Rio 2016, becoming double World Champion in the 100m and 200m in 2017, and she is also the current world record holder for over 200m.
