The Scottish Chambers of Commerce network, in partnership with the Scottish Africa Business Association, is delighted to be hosting a senior delegation from South Africa to discuss the opportunities for businesses in Scotland in the energy sector arising from the announcement of their Just Energy Transition Investment Plan (JET IP) which comes from an $8.5billion pledge from the UK, US and European Unio at COP to assist their energy transition.

The goal of the JET IP is to decarbonize the South African economy to within the NCD target range of 350-420 MtCO2 by 2030 and is centred on decarbonisation, social justice, economic growth and inclusivity and governance.

International Trade Director, Seona Shand, said: “JET IP will take place over a number of decades within the framework of South Africa’s energy, climate and other relevant policies, using both public and private sector resources which is dependent on support from the international community.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the delegation from South Africa which has a well developed economic infrastructure and opportunities in this new market.”

The round table event will take place on the morning of March 28 in Aberdeen and will cover renewable energy production, hydrogen, alternative energy vehicles, energy skills training and other opportunities.
