Scottish Development International (SDI) in partnership with Department for International Trade (DIT) and the UK Angola Chamber of Commerce is organising a trade mission to Angola, to investigate the opportunities available to the Scottish oil and gas supply chain.
The mission will provide companies with the opportunity gain first-hand experience of the markets, meet potential customers/partners and access a wide range of experts in all aspects of doing business in Angola.
Since taking office, President João Lourenço's and the new government has started an overhaul of Angola's oil and gas sector by creating a new oil and gas regulator, the National Oil and Gas Agency, thereby redefining (and narrowing) Sonangol's role to that of a national oil and gas company only. The reforms to date signal that a genuine effort to bring change to the country's public administration and business environment.
The key market opportunities include:
1. High quality, cost-saving and operations’ optimization technology solutions.
2. Exploration and production equipment and services
3. Environmental protection and monitoring technologies
The local business environment is such that Scottish companies are strongly advised to have local partners - this trade mission can help the companies find appropriate partners.
The proposed mission programme will be focussed on the oil and gas industry and will provisionally include:
• Pre-Mission Briefing meeting in Aberdeen
• Program of meetings arranged by DIT Angola (5 – day program forthcoming).
• Advice and assistance prior to, during and following the mission from DIT and SDI staff
• A chance to Network and exchange information with other missioners
• Reception hosted by the British Embassy in Luanda (Angola)
• Transport to group venues in and around Luanda (Angola)
• Inclusion in the dual language Mission brochure (Angola)
Inclusion will be limited to the first 10 companies to confirm participation.
