The Aberdeen International Airport Consultative Committee is on the lookout for a new member.

Meeting quarterly the Consultative Committee provides a regular forum for the management of the airport to discuss matters related to airport operations and developments with a range of representatives of the wider Aberdeen City and Shire communities.

A voluntary role has become available on the group for a passenger representative at the independently chaired committee.

The AIA Consultative Committee has a long history, having been set up in 1953, when the erstwhile War Office invited the Clerk of the former Aberdeenshire County Council to establish a consultative committee.

Alan Stewart, chairman of the committee said: “The Committee’s role is to improve the understanding between Aberdeen International Airport, neighbouring communities, local authorities and any special interest groups.

“Quarterly meetings of the Committee provides a forum where all parties are able to discuss a wide range of topics including airport development, airport operations, passenger experience, surface access, government consultations, noise and other environmental issues.”

All airports in the UK are required under civil aviation law to have a recognised means of consultation with the communities affected by their operations.

Alan added: “The committee is seeking a suitable person as a Passenger Representative, ideally in the business sector who frequently travels in and out of Aberdeen International Airport.

“The role is voluntary and requires the person attends the quarterly meetings to participate in matters being discussed.

“A suitable candidate should be available for the March meeting to shadow the current representative with a view to being the Passenger Representative for the June meeting.”

Anyone interested is required to submit an application as to why they would make a good passenger representative for business travellers.
