Sharon Scott has been appointed general manager of ASET International Energy Training Academy, following the retirement of long-standing chief executive, Atholl Menzies.

Having been part of ASET for more than 15 years, Sharon brings extensive experience in finance, operations and leadership to the role. Sharon’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the organisation as it continues to strengthen its role in delivering world-class training for the energy transition and broader industrial sectors.

Sharon first joined ASET’s Finance Department, where she quickly became an integral part of the organisation’s operational and commercial development. Her strong attention to detail and strategic understanding of business processes saw her take on wider responsibilities across management, compliance and business planning. Over the years, Sharon has played a key role in shaping ASET’s internal systems and supporting the growth of its extensive training portfolio, which spans electrical, mechanical, marine and safety disciplines across both the UK and international markets.

Speaking about her appointment, Sharon said: “I’m honoured to take on the role of General Manager at ASET International Energy TrainingAcademy. Her appointment comes at a pivotal time for ASET, as the organisation continues to invest in its facilities and digital infrastructure to meet the changing needs of the global workforce. With the ABCOL Oil and Gas Training Platform, High Voltage, CompEx and Marine Training Centres, forming part of ASET’s growing portfolio, the organisation remains firmly focused on delivering practical, competence-based training that prepares individuals for the challenges of a modern, transitioning energy landscape.

ASET continues to play a central role in developing the skills required for the energy transition, with training programmes that support renewable energy development, electrical safety, offshore operations and industrial maintenance. From its base in Aberdeen, ASET works closely with employers, regulators and academic institutions to ensure training delivery reflects real-world operational needs - helping to equip the workforce with transferable, future-ready skills.
