In three days’ time, 200 construction and property professionals from across central Scotland will come together at RICS CPD Day in Dunblane.
As headline sponsor, specialist lawyers from Shepherd and Wedderburn’s real estate and infrastructure team will have a significant presence at the event and participate throughout the day’s proceedings.
The conference, held annually, will this year focus on land, property, and the built environment. Presentations covering economic market outlooks and growth and inflation forecasts will also feature in the extensive programme announced by RICS.
Douglas Smith, executive director, CBRE will make the opening address.
Partners from the firm, Euan McLeod, Rhona Harper, Ewan MacLeod; and Associate, Daniel Bain, are part of the the impressive speaker line-up that has been assembled to share insight and expertise on a variety of current construction and property topics.
Rhona Harper will provide Procurement Act reform updates, covering off what they mean and their impact on procurement in the construction industry; Euan McLeod will examine the new JCT and SBCC 2016 construction contracts and the timelines for their implementation; while his near namesake, Ewan MacLeod, will discuss planning and development law, homing in on the proposed changes to the Planning Bill. Finally, in his session, intriguingly named, Neighbourly Matters, property litigation specialist, Daniel Bain, will look at current case law relating to high hedge disputes and access to light.
This event follows on from the firm’s successful sponsorship of RICS’ Dispute Resolution Conference in December, which was designed to help construction and property professionals resolve professional disputes by looking at issues such as conflict avoidance and mediation through to adjudication, arbitration and the role of the expert witness.
The RICS CPD Day will be held on March 9 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Dunblane. Further information is available at the RICS website.
