On Friday January 20, St Margaret’s School for Girls welcomed nursery girls to their 1 Junior Taster Morning. Girls from within the school’s own nursery and from other Aberdeen nurseries joined in on a range of specialist teaching.
St Margaret’s pupils benefit from specialist teaching, starting at 1 Junior and continuing all through their school career. Lessons in French, PE, music, and drama were enjoyed by the children as their parents met in the school library for a chance to speak with other families.
Parental engagement is a key component of life in the junior school and the involvement of parents as helpers on trips or into the classroom to share their professional expertise is welcomed. Parents also enjoy sharing in their daughters’ learning at the special Well Done Wednesdays and value learning more about life at St Margaret’s through the regular Find Out Fridays.
St Margaret’s junior school offers younger girls the perfect start to their school education. Large enough to offer flexibility and choice in terms of the curriculum and extra-curricular activities, class sizes are deliberately small – up to 18 pupils in 1J and 24 further up the junior school – ensuring that all the girls are well-known by their teachers and classroom assistants and that each receives the individual attention and support which she requires. The school also offers support for learning with proactive, early intervention provided where necessary.
