Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is set to land in Scotland today to meet with manufacturers and workers as part of a push to capitalise on homegrown clean energy.

Starmer will be flanked by Energy Secretary Ed Miliband and Scotland Secretary Douglas Alexander during the visit, which The Scottish Sun reports is being billed as a "vote of confidence in Scotland’s economic potential".

It comes as new poll data for True North Advisors reveals Scottish Labour and Reform UK are neck-and-neck for second place in May's Holyrood election, with the SNP the biggest party but falling short of an overall majority.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: “Our plan to get your energy bills down is working and Scottish jobs are right the forefront of making that happen.

“Twelve million homes in part powered by thousands of highly skilled Scottish jobs, paving a way for a more secure future free from Putin pushing your monthly bills up.”

“I promised to restore Scottish people and their interests firmly back at the beating heart of everything this Government does, and that is what I will continue to do.

“This May is a chance to do the same at Holyrood, reclaiming it and making it work for you with a new First Minister working with us.”

Meanwhile, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch is also in Scotland today and will lay out her criticisms of the SNP's Budget in Edinburgh.

Tomorrow, she will head to the North-east to meet with business leaders in the oil and gas sector and reiterate her party's pledge to end the ban on new licenses.

According to True North's poll data, Badenoch is more popular in Scotland than both Starmer and Farage.

Badenoch said: "Labour's decision to stand aside and let this terrible budget pass shows they can't provide the alternative Scotland desperately needs. Reform just want more welfare spending.

"Only the Conservatives are serious about cutting taxes for working people, getting a grip on benefits, backing businesses and restoring economic growth to Scotland and the whole of the UK.”
