In a lighthearted yet impactful midweek walk for Miles of Smiles, Marius, group cleaning manager for Elior UK, was joined by his local MP, Kirsty Blackman, for a unique fundraising initiative.
Dressed as Superman, Marius was accompanied by the MP — dressed as a banana.
While the costume duo drew smiles across the city, the walk also highlighted important causes: mental health support and cancer care.
Key highlights from Week 13 (of 78) of Miles of Smiles:
- Raising Mental Health Awareness:
Promoted The Nook (SAMH) , Scotland’s first network of walk-in mental health hubs — no referrals, no waiting lists. This £10 million initiative opens its first hub in Glasgow this autumn, with more to follow in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Inverclyde, and Lanarkshire. - Supporting Cancer Care:
Visited Clan Cancer Support HQ to highlight the charity’s work supporting families affected by cancer in the North-East. - Fundraising & Challenge Stats (since June 2025):
- 952 km completed (cycling, running, walking)
- £725 raised for SAMH (mental health)
- £485 raised for Clan Cancer Support
- 86 cold showers & 19 cold water dips
- Countless smiles, cheers, and hugs shared
Marius commented: “Even Superman needs a sidekick sometimes — and today, mine just happened to be a banana!”
