Surprise additions to Aberdeen International Comedy Festival line-up

Some surprise names have been added to the line-up for the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival.

Comedy fans can now pick up the festival programme to check out the full show listings, which includes extra additions Gareth White, Gary Little, Graham Mackie and Wray Thomson.

With just over two months to go until comedy takes over the city from October 3 to October 13, now is the perfect time to get booking and find your funny.

Compared to this time last year ticket sales at this stage are double where they were, a direct result of the quality of the acts and shows going on sale earlier.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “With a fantastic line-up of big names and rising stars and more than 40 shows taking place over 11 days, there will be plenty of reasons to visit Aberdeen this October.

“The Aberdeen International Comedy Festival has grown exponentially since it began in 2016 and we are very proud of the fantastic array of comedians that the public can enjoy on their doorstep at over 20 venues throughout the city centre.

“With big names like Ben Elton, who is making his eagerly anticipated return to stand-up, to ‘Irish Australian’ Jimeoin and New Yorker Desiree Burch, our line-up is truly international and festival programmes can be picked up at a range of city centre venues including the Music Hall, Lemon Tree, Tivoli Theatre, as well as a wide selection of hotels, cafes and bookshops throughout the city.”

Gary Little and Graham Mackie are two of Scotland’s best stand-ups, who will be in action for their lunchtime show You Got To Laugh at The Glentanar on Saturday, October 5.

On the same day at the Mercure Caledonian Hotel, youngsters can witness a magical extravaganza Magic Gareth: Man vs Balloon, in the ultimate family show featuring magic tricks galore, comedy shenanigans and, of course, The Biggest Balloon in the World.

On Saturday October 12, firm comedy favourite from the North-east Wray Thomson will give some Late Night Man Chat at The Carmelite Hotel that promises to be a riot.

The Aberdeen International Comedy Festival will run at a multitude of city venues, bars and clubs over the course of 11 days from Thursday, October 3, until Sunday, October 13, 2019. The festival has been organised and promoted in its entirety by Aberdeen Inspired since 2016 with generous support from The McGinty’s Group Scotland and Balmoral Group.
