Budding Engineers have successfully completed the first chapter in its journey to inspiring STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and maths).

The small company, who have recently won two awards including Most Motivational STEAM Education Organisation 2021, was established in May 2020 to help put an end to digital device exclusion and laptop poverty by recycling old IT equipment.

In July 2021, the Tech4Tots&Teens project was created as part of the Device Refurbishment Fund where Budding Engineers managed to donate 475 devices to low-income and disadvantaged families across Scotland between the ages of five and 25. In doing so, 1.6 tonnes of waste was saved from landfill.

From feedback received, the project has made a huge positive impact on jobs, children's education, numeracy and literacy, social inclusion and some children’s mental health.

Budding Engineers are now looking for different funding streams to allow them to continue Tech4Tots&Teens as a rolling project to help support more families during this cost of living crisis.
