Opening mid-June 2019, FOLD is the new retail space at Aberdeenshire’s multi-disciplinary arts centre in Banchory.

One more good reason to visit this award-winning venue offering a year-round programme of exhibitions, performance, theatre, dance, comedy, music, live screenings, visual art, craft and design, workshops and environmental projects.

Artists, makers and designers are supported to research and create artwork inspired by the Barn’s beautiful location, the gateway to Royal Deeside. The success of Flock, the Barn’s nationally recognised annual contemporary craft and design fair enabled development works on site and the creation of the new retail space, FOLD.

Here you can shop from a carefully curated collection of local and nationally recognised designers and from the Barn’s inaugural Hamewares Collection featuring work by local makers Lindsay Johnston and Kevin Andrew Morris.

Both makers have created suites of products that celebrate the cultural distinctiveness of Banchory and Aberdeenshire. Textile designer and illustrator Lindsay has designed and made a series of Silk Cushions, Pocket Squares and Stationery, with illustrations inspired by the River Dee, Banchory Lavender, James Scott Skinner and the Scottish fiddle tradition. Ceramic Designer Kevin has made stoneware lidded vessels and beakers reflecting the Barn’s own branding and available in a series of coloured glazes in including fir green, salmon pink, frost white, earth brown, lavender and blue.

Alongside this, you will be able to shop from a selection of jewellery, ceramics, woodware, leatherware, illustrations, prints, weaving, textiles, knitwear, stationery, homewares and apparel by leading makers and participate in a selection of craft workshops
