Donald Trump has threatened Russia with 100% tariffs on trade partners if Putin does not agree to a deal to end the Ukraine war within 50 days.
The ultimatum comes as the US president agreed to send "top-of-the-line" weaponry to Ukraine through Nato countries, with the Europeans footing the bill, the BBC reports.
Trump did not elaborate on the weapons being sent to Ukraine, but Nato chief Mark Rutte said the deal included "missiles and ammunition".
During a meeting between Rutte and Trump, the Nato leader said: "If I was Vladimir Putin today... I would reconsider whether I should not take negotiations about Ukraine more seriously."
Trump appeared to nod in agreement.
The US president said he could impose 100% secondary tariffs targeting Russia's remaining trade partners unless a peace deal is reached within 50 days.
The move would see any country that continues to trade with Russia face the tax if they also want to sell products to the US.
