University of Aberdeen hosts International Women’s Day

The University of Aberdeen will host an International Women's Day Conference on Thursday, March 8, 2018 with the theme “Inspiring Women: Press for Progress”. International Women’s Day has been celebrated across the world since the early 1900's. Originally, its aim was to provide a forum for women to campaign for equality and women’s rights. Over time, it has evolved and now in March each year, thousands of events are held throughout the world to recognise the progress that has been made, to inspire women and to celebrate their achievements.

Our specific aim in hosting this event is to raise the profile of issues that are central to career development for female colleagues at both a local and national level.
