The University of Aberdeen has announced details of two new exciting opportunities for professionals to enhance their non-executive career portfolios and make a positive impact to the governance of a global higher education institution at a senior level.

The University is recruiting two new members for its Audit & Risk Committee - offering the chance to undertake a non-executive director role in a higher education/public sector setting and to make a contribution to an organisation that is central to the future success of the North-east community.

For professionals aspiring to enhance their career and make a positive impact at the highest levels of global organisations, becoming a non-executive director offers a wealth of professional development opportunities and can be personally very rewarding. The corporate governance environment is rapidly developing and dynamic, involving leadership, strategic acumen, cultural and social awareness, and the ability to navigate an increasingly complex business environment.

The work of the Audit & Risk Committee reflects those themes and centres around advising the University’s Governing Body on the effectiveness and responsibilities of corporate governance, financial systems, internal controls and risk management. Applications are sought from professionals with previous experience acting as a non-executive board member or trustee, and in particular those with experience in financial management and audit who can demonstrate a sound understanding of current and emerging issues such as sustainability, net zero and people related themes.

For further information about the opportunities and how to apply, the University has produced a recruitment advertisement and candidate pack.
