Representatives from the US and China are set to meet later today in London as crunch trade talks between the superpower nations continue.
US president Donald Trump announced the meeting on Friday, confirming a senior US delegation consisting of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, would meet their Chinese counterparts for discussions in the British capital.
The BBC reports China's foreign ministry confirmed Vice Premier He would be in the UK between 8 and 13 June for the talks.
It comes after a a productive phone conversation between Trump and Xi Jinping, the Chinese leader, last week, which Trump described as a "very good talk", resulting in "a very positive conclusion for both countries".
Chinese state news agency Xinhua is reporting that during the phone call - the first direct contact between the leaders since the beginning of the trade war - Xi told Trump the US should "withdraw the negative measures it has taken against China"
Last month, the US and China agreed a temporary truce to lower import taxes, however, both countries have since accused the other of breaching the deal.
