VisitAberdeenshire has supported
Alzheimer’s Research UK’s efforts to reach the local community ahead of a
national conference next week.
Dementia researchers and academics
will be arriving in the city for the Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Research Conference
2023, held at P&J Live from Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 March. This is the
largest dementia research conference in the UK.
Ahead of the conference, organisers
will be holding a community outreach event in Aberdeen for the public to take
part in. The roadshow, held at Union Square from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 March
will promote brain health, and will give visitors the opportunity to meet local
dementia researchers at the free family friendly event.
VisitAberdeenshire assisted the
Alzheimer’s Research UK team to find a suitable venue and facilitated
discussions with local stakeholders to bring the outreach event to fruition.
Chris Foy, CEO, VisitAberdeenshire
said: “Supporting a client to fulfil its event ambitions outside of the
conference hall is central to the work of our Convention Bureau team.”
Mr Foy continued: “The work of the
Convention Bureau team is to promote the destination to key decision makers
highlighting the merits of hosting their event in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
We are pleased to support Alzheimer’s Research UK’s public session and look
forward to welcoming delegates to North-east Scotland.”
Josie
Waters, Public Engagement Officer, Alzheimer’s Research UK said: “It has been a
pleasure to work with VisitAberdeenshire to organise this event. We are excited
to offer an opportunity for local people in Aberdeen to interact with
scientists and find out about the latest ground breaking research taking place
across Scotland.”
