Union Street’s Cancer Research UK is looking for volunteers to help in its store.
There are several vacancies available including processing donations and customer service on the shop floor.
The store’s co-manager Daisy McCran said: “We have such an enthusiastic and friendly team of volunteers at Cancer Research UK Union Street. We are looking forward to welcoming new friendly faces who are passionate about raising funds to beat cancer.”
As well as gaining valuable work experience and skills, volunteering can also improve confidence and self-esteem. It allows individuals to connect with others and socialise to prevent or help with mental wellbeing and feelings of loneliness.
The store managers urge anybody who is interested but unsure if the position is right for them to still enquire. Prospective volunteers can attend a relaxed one-on-one taster session with Daisy or Agnes where they can learn about volunteering and try some of the tasks in a relaxed environment.
Daisy added: “We often receive interest from people who lack charity experience or certain skills. It is just great to see the impact volunteering and support from others in the shop has on them, as they really come out of their shell and embrace their role. It’s wonderful to see and hear.”
Please phone 01224 590580 to speak to Daisy or Agnes about volunteering.
Alternatively, please email AberdeenUnionShop@cancer.org.uk or visit the store at125 Union Street. Any interested parties must be over 18.
