Aberdeen City Council has confirmed arrangements for its festive waste and recycling services in 2022.

  • Household bin collections

Household mixed recycling bin collections will not take place on Monday 26 December and Monday 2 January. This is due to the availability of our tipping site during the festive period. The affected areas will be around Mannofield and Garthdee on Monday 26th and in Hilton and Middlefield on the 2nd. Residents are recommended to store their mixed recycling waste safely until their next collection day if they can.

Household general waste and brown bin collections are unaffected and mixed recycling routes will take place on other days as scheduled. Communal mixed recycling and general waste collections will continue throughout the festive period.

  • Recycling points and HWRCs

Recycling points will remain open as normal and HWRCs will close on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day only, with standard opening hours in operation on all other days. Residents affected by cancelled mixed recycling collections on 26 December and 2 January can take their waste to these locations.

  • Christmas trees

We will collect real Christmas trees on brown bin collection days between 9 and 20 January. Trees should be left beside bins and residents do not need to have a garden waste permit for trees to be collected.

  • Bulky uplifts

The bulky uplift service will be suspended from Monday 26 December and will restart on Monday 9 January.

  • Business waste

There will be no business waste collections on 25 December or 1 January. Aberdeen City Council business waste customers should present their bins on the following day, December 26, and January 1.
