The North-east is being hit with a fresh batch of weather warnings with rain set to cause more disruption this weekend.

The yellow warning for rain has been put in place from midday on Thursday to Saturday, exactly a week after Storm Babet battered the region.

The affected area stretches from just north of Perth, to south of Peterhead.

The Met Office is warning of a "small chance" of flooding and possible damage to some buildings.

More travel disruption

Train and bus services will be impacted by the weather, although its unclear whether any will be cancelled.

Network Rail has said speed restrictions will "likely be needed" on lines between Perth and Aberdeen and Aberdeen and Elgin.

A statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, read: "Strong winds are also expected, again not to the levels seen during last weekend’s storm, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on our wind alarms across the network, and will take proactive action if needed.

"We’ll be working around the clock to keep trains moving. Preparations are already underway, with teams making sure they have the right people and kit in the right place to respond if we need to."
