Women’s Rights event taking place on March 21

Following on from a wide variety of events across Aberdeen to mark International Women’s Day on March 8, local and national organisations are working in partnership to host an event on March 21, exploring women’s rights in the context of the The UN Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

The event, called “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun(damental) Human Rights” will be co-hosted by local charity Grampian Regional Equality Council (GREC), the national feminist organisation Engender, and Aberdeen Women’s Alliance.

Participants will be asked to contribute to a nationwide response to CEDAW, as well as to identify priorities for advancing women’s rights and addressing discrimination in Aberdeen.

The event is free with refreshments provided, taking place at the Belmont Cinema 17.30-19.30 on March 21. Click here to book a space. The venue is wheelchair accessible and children are welcome.
