A former Matalan store in Aberdeen will soon be demolished to make way for JD Gyms to enter the North-east market for the first time.
A demolition warrant for the Constitution Street building has been put to council planners detailing how they plan to knock down the former clothes store at a cost of £1million.
Planning papers say the revamp of the former Matalan store will bring “one of the most recognised fitness centre brands on the market” to the north-east.
Proposals revealed that the gym would operate 24/7, similar to other sites across the city including PureGym's Shiprow branch.
JD Gyms currently has around 500,000 members across over 90 gyms nationwide, with the company looking to expand into new cities that "meet their requirements" and "enhance the opportunities for fitness."
