UK top 50 and leading Scottish law firm Brodies LLP today announces seven new partners in its latest round of internal promotions.
Aberdeen-based rural business and natural capital lawyer Andrew Askew Blain steps up to partner, having joined Brodies in 2015. He specialises in farm and estates transactional work and estate advisory – including collaborating with personal and family colleagues on succession planning, contentious agricultural tenancy matters and partnership disputes. Andrew also advises landowners on renewables and other development projects.
The firm has also promoted central belt construction law expert Amy Pairman, banking and finance lawyer Peter Brading, corporate lawyer Duncan Cathie, public law and housing expert Fiona McLeod and private client lawyers Nadine Walton and Stewart Gibson.

The latest promotions come as disputes partner Iain Rutherford becomes the firm's new chair. Iain succeeds Christine O'Neill KC who steps down from the position having completed four three-year terms.
The firm's leadership team was also recently bolstered with the appointment of Julie McConnell, who joins Brodies as business development and marketing director. With more than 18 years' experience, Julie joined Brodies from global law firm White & Case LLP where she held both regional and global leadership positions.
Brodies managing partner, Stephen Goldie, said: "That we have seven colleagues stepping up to partner is testament to the strength and depth of talent within our firm. They are all exceptional lawyers, and our clients will benefit from their knowledge and expertise.
"As we commence the second year of our current strategic cycle, we also look forward to the contributions of Iain and Julie, who in their respective roles, are valuable additions to our firm's leadership."
