Aberdeen Central Library brings early festive cheer

Aberdeen Central Library is counting down the days to Christmas in a novel way this year; with a Living Advent Calendar of events throughout December.

In partnership with Creative Learning, the historic library is hosting the living calendar to bring some cheer and creativity to anyone living, working in or visiting Aberdeen.

Every day, up to and including Christmas Eve, will feature a free half hour drop-in event between 12.30 and 1.30pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays and between 5.30 and 6.30pm on Monday and Wednesdays. The Central Library will highlight festive activities going on elsewhere in Aberdeen on Sundays when the building is closed. There will also be things to do and take away in addition to the main event each day.

In the spirit of the season many individuals and organisations are giving up their time to deliver surprises each day. At a time which can be quite lonely and isolating for some, the Advent Calendar is designed to bring people together for some light entertainment and activity. The fun is designed to be accessible for all ages, stages and abilities with the aim of boost people’s overall sense of wellbeing and highlight all the local community has to offer, not just at Christmas but throughout the year.

Everyone is welcome to drop in to discover what is on each day. The advent calendar will open a clue at a time on Aberdeen City Libraries Twitter and Facebook with a final reveal of the activity at 12.15 each day.
