Hot on the heels of the Tall Ships, a very different kind of race could be set to come to the North-east as Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray councils prepare a bid to host the World Rally Championships.
An official bid to host the famous championships across the three local authority areas is set to be submitted, The Press and Journal reports.
If successful, the event, headquartered at P&J Live, could be held in the North-east for three years between 2027 and 2029.
Landing the event, which last year racked up more than 800million cumulative viewers, would be a major coup for the region.
At a meeting next week, councillors are being urged to approve the "detailed project proposal" which would then progress to the finance committee in November.
