Aberdeen City’s first outdoor craft beer, gin and music festival has been launched by the team behind Dusk Cocktail Bar.

Sessions Festival, a two-day gathering of craft drinks, street food and live music enthusiasts, will take place at the Hazlehead Park on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 August.

The inaugural event is already picking up strong momentum, with music acts including The Banjo Lounge 4, Dope Sick Fly, The Smokin’ Bugler Band and SUPA & Da Kryptonites already confirmed. A string of craft drinks and food suppliers are to be announced over the coming weeks.

Sessions co-founder Wil Aitken said: “Aberdeen City and Shire plays host to a number of successful festivals, which is in part thanks to the emergence of local breweries and distillers which have really put the North-east of Scotland on the map.

“We’re thrilled to launch Sessions Festival, and are confident that the event will live up to the success experienced by other events in the region. In particular, it’s fantastic that we’re able to support so many local suppliers who are the life blood to Aberdeen’s economy, whilst hosting what is sure to be a fantastic day or night out for visitors.”

Three Sessions will be hosted over the two days, taking place on Friday evening (7pm – 12midnight), Saturday afternoon (1pm – 6pm) and Saturday evening (7pm – 12midnight).

Discussions are currently underway to look at transport links to ensure a safe and efficient journey to and from the festival, and organisers are encouraging festivalgoers to leave the car behind.

Wil continued: “We can’t wait to host the first ever Sessions and we want everyone to have a fun and safe time, so that the festival can continue for many years to come. We’ve already had a huge amount of interest on via social media alone, so would encourage anyone thinking about coming along to snap up their ticket quickly!”

The Sessions Festival website is now live at www.sessionsfestival.co.uk. Tickets, priced at £20 per person per session, are available to purchase now from the site.
