Aberdeen Inspired has teamed up with fan-favourite Scottish events startup Black Tartan to help make a sold-out Music Hall show starring cast members from Still Game even more of a night to remember.

In addition to a brilliant night of iconic Scottish comedy at the Auld Pals show on April 30, there will be a special giveaway of 100 Aberdeen Gift Cards – each worth £10 – courtesy of the city centre Business Improvement District.

The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to ensuring events delivered in Aberdeen generate maximum support and engagement for local businesses, communities and residents, with the Aberdeen Gift Card accepted in more than 300 “bricks and mortar” traders.

Black Tartan, the Aberdeen-based events brand built on delivering fan-first experiences, ensures that its events do more for communities than simply selling tickets.

Instead, the focus is on creating impactful moments that actively boost the local economy and community wellbeing by driving footfall, prioritising local businesses, and operating in a disruptively ethical way.

For example, by committing never to use controversial dynamic pricing, keeping costs accessible, and making less profit in order to support local venues and vendors.

Aberdeen Inspired is the award-winning voice and champion for almost 700 businesses and strives to make the heart of the Granite City a vibrant and thriving place to live, work and play.

Its projects and initiatives include the world-class Nuart Aberdeen, Aberdeen Restaurant Weeks – the largest in Scotland – and the award-winning Aberdeen Gift Card which has generated £7.5million sales for bricks and mortar traders.

Adrian Watson, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “Black Tartan and Aberdeen Inspired share the same script of supporting local businesses, boosting our city centre and making the Granite City the best it can be.

“Which is why we are happy to help put even more of a smile on the faces of Still Game fans who will no doubt have a fantastic night at Auld Pals. That, in turn, will put a smile on the faces of the restaurants, bars, shops, beauticians, attractions and literally hundred of other businesses who will benefit from these Aberdeen Gift Card prizes being spent with them.”

Johnny Brooks, Chief Executive of Black Tartan, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Aberdeen Inspired as our City Engagement Partner. Our ambition is not simply to put on a show and make a quick buck. We want to build something that reshapes the entertainment industry, one community at a time. It might take us a little longer as we’re underdogs in this behemoth industry, but the amazing turnout has really proven that if you build something that respects audiences, they will support you.”

“We’re confident we can help shine a light on some amazing local businesses and generate increased visibility, local spend and lasting benefits for our city, all whilst giving fans a night to remember forever.”

In addition to economic benefits, the collaboration places a strong emphasis on community wellbeing. By creating an inclusive and engaging experience around the event, Black Tartan aims to create moments that get people excited about going into the city centre, being seen and heard socially, all whilst meeting old friends and new.

The “activist” event company recently revealed legendary Aberdeen songwriter Graham Edwards (best known for penning Britney Spears, Justin Bieber and Rihanna hits) as its Head of Music, alongside a financial investment from critically acclaimed hospitality guru Teddy Lee.

As Black Tartan continues to expand across the UK, it will ensure that each host city benefits from uniquely tailored experiences, and a better environment for artists and fans.
